Interior Designer or Stylist, What does this mean?

When do you know you are a Designer?
When you have the confidence to say it 
 ​
Confidence = The ability to come up with the goods. 

​I’m an Interior Designer….I’m a Stylist…. I’m not a mind reader...
 
What does this even mean?   When others hear “designer” or “stylist". It maybe WOW what a glamorous life, or oh my! “A creative mind who doesn’t really work for a living” Contrary to this thought there is much more to design & styling.

​So here I am as an Interior Designer/Stylist to give you some of my mojo.

For all creative minds in the sphere within the creative world this statement will not come as a surprise. We love what we do however self-doubt is inevitable in this industry; nevertheless I feel there seems to be an enormous gap between what a designer/stylist does and what is perceived. Most of the community sees it as an exciting life however INTERIOR designers & stylist understand the importance of design & style within people’s lives. What an interior designer must always do is to approach a project with one thing in mind. Does it fit the brief of the client?

​Everything and I mean everything that is designed or made is with the client in mind, being for desire ~ practicality ~ belief or culture and the list goes on.

As designers we are in the business of understanding human’s likes or dislikes, we are not in the business of mind reading. “We must be clear on what will influence”. As designers we gather information not only to make our lives easier, but we must know how to influence attitudes and behaviours by different methods.

​I have developed a practice to influence and build trust. I designed this client activity with the foundations of “the elements and principle of design”. It was developed along side my understanding human behaviour not to forget the love of design.  I believe this simple activity utilising line-shape-color has increased my clarification of client’s requirements.

​As designers we think creatively, we should not take things for granted and nothing is ever set in concrete, and this is what makes new ideas go hand in hand with design. As INTERIOR Designers we see ourselves as the influencers who understand how to give a clear sense to the world that surrounds us all.

IN DESIGN THE USE OF PSYCHOLOGY CAN MAKE AN IMPACT ON CREATIVITY ASSISTING THE BRIEF TO FLOW WITH EASE. DON’T GET ME WRONG, THERE ARE MANY APPROACHES TO A DESIGN BRIEF, THIS IS MY WAY, WHICH ASSISTS MY WORK ALLOWING A CLEAR DIRECTION OF STYLE FROM THE CLIENT. IN TURN MAXIMISING TRUST FROM THE CLIENT OF MY SKILLS AND ABILITY TO DELIVER. IT IS IMPERATIVE TO HOLD CONTROL OF THE DESIGN PROJECT WHICH INFLUENCES THE DESIGN OUTCOME TO TRANSFORM A PROJECT ON TIME AND WITHIN BUDGET BUT IN THE WAY THE CLIENT PERCEIVED THE PROJECT IN THEIR MIND.
